How To Use" Wash Away"

'Wash Away"

A water soluble plastic that dissolves when placed in water. It is commonly used when you want to prevent stitches from being buried in plush or heavyweight fabrics. Another use is when the embroider wants to create their own piece of textile fabric. These following steps will explain an alternative use.

Step 1 Select your scrap fabric, here l have some remnant Japanese fabric.

Step 2: Place the remnants between 2 layers of plastic.

Step 3: Fabric pieces laid out on the plastic

Step 4: Fabric pieces sandwiched between two pieces of 'Wash Away' secured in place with pins and placed in a hoop ready for free motion machine embroidery.

 

5.Work being machine stitch...free motion embroidery... where the feed dogs of the machine have been lowered. Note the stitching overlaps as this ensures the pieces of fabric remain together thus forming a solid piece of fabric.

Step 6 The finished piece, now can be used as an extra embellishment or an actual piece of fabric in one of your quilt designs. atahe plastic had been washed away in warm water.
